Developing YOU Mentoring Program

GCJ Enterprises mentoring mission is to expand opportunities and create pathways to success for underrepresented students. Dr. Campbell developed a program that provides the needed tools through years of experience to provide mentoring to young African American males 15-19 years of age. The focus is based on underrepresented students participating in sports who have the desire, skills, and capabilities to succeed, but lack the insight of African American role models, financial resources, mentoring/tutoring, and the needed social awareness to equip them for their journey in life. GCJ mentoring objectives include making certain underrepresented students are: 1) Entering school ready to learn and becoming scholar-athletes; developing higher aspirations and goals; 2) improving classroom performance through tutoring and mentoring; 3) graduating from high school ready for college and career; 4) completing post-secondary education or training; 5) successfully entering the workforce; and 6) avoiding negative behavior-Respect for law enforcement and consequences. GCJ mentoring goals focus on the need to identify high schools within the Klein, Conroe, Aldine and Spring School Districts to communicate the mission, objectives, and goals of the mentoring program.
